What is Orego-Stim?
Orego-Stim is unique. It is the 100% natural feed additive/flavour used globally in livestock diets to maximise overall performance and returns.
How does it work?

What is the shelf life of Orego-Stim?
When stored in the packaging provided and out of direct sunlight, a shelf life of 2 years has been designated. Prolonged exposure to light and air may cause components of the product to oxidize resulting in reduced activity and potential non-acceptance by poultry stock.
What is the stability of Orego-Stim under manufacturing conditions?
Experiments have shown (see Technical Bulletin 25) that Orego-Stim Powder displays remarkable stability towards heat treatment, it is suitable not only for the pelleting process at temperatures of up to 90°C, but even for extrusion at temperatures of up to 120°C. The fact that Orego-Stim Powder is heat stable negates the need for encapsulation, which actually hinders the aromatic properties of the natural plant compounds within Orego-Stim. Because OS is not affected by pH, acidity or enzymes, it is relatively stable and will pass through the stomach with no changes to the molecular structure of the active constituents.
Is Orego-Stim compatible with other feed additives or antibiotics?
Research and field observations have indicated that the incorporation of Orego-Stim in conjunction with feed additives such as enzymes, acids, amino acid chelates, antiseptic compounds and/or any of the regularly used therapeutic antibiotics, has a somewhat synergistic effect and enhanced levels of performance within production systems have been observed by commercial units worldwide.
The only contraindication for the use of Orego-Stim, due to its mode of action, is that it is highly unsuitable for inclusion simultaneously with products containing live yeast.
Should you not use probiotics with Orego-Stim?
Essentially the active components of Orego-Stim will have the effect of killing a proportion of probiotics that contain live bacteria or yeast, making them ineffective for their intended purpose. But studies have shown that Orego-Stim in combination with probiotics actually boosts the growth of beneficial bacteria, which is continuously replenished at a higher rate due to the absence of pathogenic bacteria and so the process of competitive exclusion takes its natural course.
Does Orego-Stim have a negative impact on meat quality?
Due to the increasing awareness to food safety by consumers, Meriden Animal Health Ltd has attempted to establish confidence towards Orego-Stim by conducting non-performance studies to assess the safety of the product. Work entailed feeding a diet with Orego-Stim at the maximum inclusion level versus a commercial control diet containing none, to poultry (broilers) at the Swedish Agricultural University. Various cuts of meat were taken from treatment and control groups and forwarded to the Camden and Chorleywood Food and Drinks Research Organisation (UK), whereby they were then subjected to a Free Description Test by a panel of assessors. From the results it was established that there were no differences in quality (flavour, odour, and texture) between the treatment and the control groups, and more importantly no ‘herbal’ type notes detected. Thus, providing credence to previous research that the compounds within Orego-Stim are not absorbed beyond the boundaries of the gastrointestinal tract.
Can animals overdose on Orego-Stim?
There is NO possibility of overdosing animals with Orego-Stim, as its aromatic properties will make it too spicy for the animal to consume at a point when it is mixed into the feed in too large an amount. So if a mistake occurs in the mixing process and the quantity of Orego-Stim mixed into the feed is more than it is supposed to be, the animals will simply refuse the feed. So once the problem is recognised, all you have to do to rectify the situation is to further dilute the feed accordingly to achieve the correct inclusion rates.
